The
Story of a Successful Friendship
A. Louis Drucker and Emanuel
E. Falk were associates long before they ever
dreamed of Drucker & Falk.
Before World War I, young Mr. Falk assisted Mr.
Drucker in his grocery store after school and on
weekends. Mr. Drucker had no qualms about leaving
Mr. Falk in charge of the store when he went home
for dinner.
In 1938, A.L. Drucker had an insurance office
located in a tiny cinder block building in downtown
Newport News, across from the Post Office. E.E.
Falk was completing an assignment to liquidate
the Old Dominion Land Company. He formerly worked
in Richmond, and upon completion of his assignment,
he proposed forming a Real Estate-Insurance partnership.
In March 1938, the partnership
Drucker & Falk
was formed. They had a very humble beginning, both
investing $100.00. They purchased a new typewriter
and employed one part-time girl who wrote the insurance
policies, kept the books and also acted as a secretary.
The first holiday party was attended by six persons:
Mr. Falk who was single at the time, Mr. Drucker,
his wife and two sons, Erwin and Stanley, and the
secretary.
The growth of the partnership
each year was phenomenal. They soon had to move
across the street to larger
quarters. In 1962, the city condemned all of the
buildings in a five block area, one of which was
the Drucker & Falk office. So, in 1970, the
present Drucker & Falk building was erected.
Erwin B. Drucker and David C. Falk, Sr. became
full partners on January 1, 1969. David Falk branched
from Newport News to Raleigh, North Carolina.
From 1970 on, Drucker & Falk has expanded
very rapidly. Now spanning over many states, Drucker & Falk
offers professional services in the world of Real
Estate and Insurance.
On May 1, 1997, Drucker and Falk
entered a new era with the formation of Drucker & Falk, LLC.
Effective May 1, 1997, the Drucker & Falk Partnership
ceased operations and all of the outstanding contracts
and responsibilities of the Drucker & Falk
Partnership were converted to Drucker & Falk,
LLC. This conversion to a Virginia Limited Liability
Company created a modern business vehicle to provide
the associates with more opportunities for growth
and advancement, and thereby to better serve all
of the D&F clients.
Concurrent with the formation
of Drucker & Falk,
LLC, a newly formed Virginia Corporation known
as Drucker & Falk, Inc. was appointed as Manager
of Drucker & Falk, LLC. This corporation was
charged with the responsibility of running and
administering all of the LLC's affairs. Also effective
May 1, 1997, all direct employees of the Partnership
became direct employees of Drucker & Falk,
Inc.
Drucker & Falk began as a
small family business. Although there has been
extreme growth since the
founding of the partnership in 1938, the firm today,
with almost eight hundred direct and affiliated
employees, prides itself in retaining its family
character.
